Background

Before joining the ETUI, Zane was a stagiaire at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Her PhD research (European University Institute) looks at the role of the Court of Justice in the area of social policy from a law-making perspective. At the European University Institute she has participated in numerous projects as a research assistant. Zane has taught Human Rights at the University of Latvia and Introduction to EU Constitutional law at the European University Institute. Prior to that, she worked as a legal adviser for the department of cooperation with the CJEU at the Ministry of Justice of Latvia.

She holds a law degree with the qualification of a lawyer from the University of Latvia, and an LLM degree from the University of Cambridge. In 2014/2015 she was a Fulbright/Schuman visiting researcher at Yale Law School and Rutgers University.
