Panel 2: Ageing workforce – Is it possible without better working conditions?

Thursday 25 September 09:00-10:40

Panel 2 Ageing workforce – Is it possible without better working conditions?

The percentage of workers expecting to be able to carry out their job at age 60 does not look promising. How to maintain people longer at work taking into account social and health inequalities? The debate in this panel will focus on the ability to cope and remain at work for ageing people; how to take into account the demographic changes, including ergonomics, workplace design, gender and psychosocial factors, as well as the policy implications.

− Gérard Valenduc, Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) and University of Namur - PRESENTATION

− Greet Vermeylen, The European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) - PRESENTATION

− Hans-Martin Hasselhorn, German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) - PRESENTATION

Discussant: Estelle Brentnall, European Federation of Trade Unions in the Food, Agriculture and Tourism sectors (EFFAT)
