Tribute to a champion of workers' rights

Simon Pickvance, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Sheffield and union activist, died from mesothelioma (an asbestos-related cancer) on 23 November. The ETUI joins with the British trade union movement, and especially the Hazards health and safety network, in honouring him. Simon had been the driving force behind an advisory service for workers in the Sheffield area with work-related diseases since the 1970s. His activities for the ETUI included directing a study on the potential benefits of REACH.
