Find below the highlights of the latest issue of the Collective Bargaining newsletter with the most important developments at European and member state level over the summer:

1. Europe – Pilots and crew members working at Ryanair organised a series of industrial actions all over Europe. The latest actions led to agreements in Ireland and Italy.

2. Estonia – Trade unions and employers published the bargaining results that have to lead to a minimum wage agreement. For 2019, the minimum monthly wage will be 540 euro or an hourly 3.21 euro. 

3. Luxembourg – The statistical office Statec announced an increase by 2.5% of the wages through a new round of indexation. The adaptation of the wages, salaries and pensions will enter into force on 1 August 2018.

4. Slovenia – A new collective agreement in the hospitality sector has prevented a strike at the peak of the tourist season. Workers won a yearly holiday bonus of 1000 euro. Moreover, employers will have to analyse overtime every three months to see if it exceeds 5% of the average working time and if so, take measures to address the issue.

5. Turkey – The Constitutional Court ruled that the cabinet decree banning the United Metalworkers’ Union (Birleşik Metal-İş) decision to strike in 2015 is a clear violation of the trade union rights as enshrined in the constitution, and that national security was invoked arbitrarily.
