European works council trainers met in Prague

From 12 to 14 February 2014, the third annual workshop for the Network of European Works Council Trainers “the N.E.T.” was organised in Prague. 13 of the currently 16 members of the N.E.T. participated in a seminar which was divided into three major blocks: one day of topical discussion, one day of pedagogical training and a third day looking at the workflow for the organisation of EWC training.

On the first day an in-depth exchange took place on the subject of confidentiality. Maria Jauhiainen from the SEEurope Network reported on a regulatory paper on this topic, which was prepared by the Finnish ombudsman.

Further, special attention was given to the possibility of adapting training materials to specific target audiences, how to deal with financial information, empowering EWCs and the cooperation between the European and the local level of worker representation. The pedagogical training provided some fresh ideas on interactive methodologies.

Finally, on the third day, the timeline of preparing, delivering and debriefing training was clarified, focusing in particular on the administrative support. This workshop also introduced new ETUI-colleague Andrea Husen-Bradley, who now shares the responsibility of EWC, SE Works Council and SNB training with Bruno Demaître. The workshop was yet another important step in the continued effort to strengthen, expand and professionalise this very particular service of the ETUI Education department.
