In memoriam Christos Triantafillou

Christos Triantafillou

It is with great sadness that the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) learned of the passing of Christos Traintafillou, an economist at the Labour Institute of the General Confederation of Greek Workers (INE-GSEE), member of ETUI's Trade Union related Research Institutes (TURI) network, trainer, member of the NETYL network (Young Leader) and member of the Pedagogical Committee of the Education department.

This charismatic activist and expert for the TURI network and trainer for the ETUI's Education department passed away on Friday 14 June 2019 surrounded by his family and friends.

ETUI General Director Philippe Pochet said: "I would like to express my deepest sadness and my compassion for this early departure of our dearest colleague and friend Christos Triantafillou. Words cannot even express my sorrow, as well as the sorrow of all his friends at the ETUI and within the trade union community. Our hearts are broken by this sudden and so early departure and all our thoughts are with his colleagues, friends and family".

As an exceptional workers' rights activist, there is no doubt that Chritos Triantafillou will be missed terribly by everyone but the ETUI will continue his dreams by working to improve the working conditions of workers around Europe.

Colleagues and friends in Brussels lit a candle and observed a minute of silence in memoriam of Christos Triantafillou.

Condolence messages from colleagues can be sent to etui@etui.org for further processing.
