Denmark: a joint website for closer cooperation between the FTF and LO confederations

To support their merger process, the FTF and LO confederations have set up a joint website to involve and inform stakeholders in the project.

The FTF (Funktionærernes og Tjenestemændenes Fællesråd, the Confederation of Professionals in Denmark) and the LO (Landesorganisationen i Danmark, the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions) announced in 2015 that they intended to join forces and create a strong confederation with 1.5 million members.

A steering committee was set up to present by the end of 2017 the foundations on which this future confederation would be built. In the meantime, a website ( has been set up to involve their members in the process and keep them informed about the progress of negotiations. Its name makes reference to LO-FTF 2020-projektet, a joint project to analyse the challenges facing trade unions as they approach the 2020s.

Launched on 22 August 2016, the site contains documents, decisions and reports relating to the merger. Readers can also sign up to the newsletter, download official documents and find out about the many joint political campaigns that are being launched, such as ‘Er du ok’ ?’ (‘Are you okay ?’), which focuses on the benefits of being covered by collective bargaining, and ‘Sammen skaber vi værdi’ (‘Together we create value’), which aims to influence the political agenda.
