IG Metall supports Hungarian trade unions in order to raise working conditions at the Hungarian subsidiaries

The German trade union IG Metall opened a new transnational partnership office in Kecskemet, and assists Hungarian sister organizations with training and advice.

A similar office has existed in Gyor (Audi Hungarian) since 2014. German unions focus on the automotive industry in order to limit pressures on wages and working conditions at Eastern European subsidiaries like Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary in Kecskemet. In Kecskemet, Daimler AG (Mercedes) is planning to expand its production over the next few years, and the German car manufacturer and the supplier industry, which is also based there, are expected to create between five and six thousand new jobs - in addition to the 4,000 employees already working in a Mercedes-Benz plant in Hungary. IG Metall even weighed in on the recent wage fight in Kecskemet two month ago.
