Ionizing radiation: European Radiation Passbook on the way?

The association of the Heads of European Radiological protection Competent Authorities (Herca) is putting forward a harmonized European Radiation Passbook to the European Commission for inclusion in the core European standards.

The passbook backed by Herca aims to ensure that so-called outside workers in a nuclear facility benefit from the same level of protection as permanent workers. The passbook will in the first instance be issued on paper, but a digital web-based version may be developed later.

The decision was actually taken at a meeting of the organization on 30 June in Oslo, but was only published in early October.
