Priority 2: Worker participation and industrial relations

With corporate decisions not taken at local level, we need strong and effective employee representative bodies at transnational company level to support our visions of good and decent work. They also need to be linked to other bodies in the same industry to make sure that they do not work against each other, to uncover common strategies of their managements and to learn together or from each other about how to deal with these.  Transformation, digitalisation and Industry 4.0 are playing a big role in this context and are some of the top priorities in IG Metall policy.

  • To deepen knowledge of the rights and duties of an SC;
  • To integrate trade unions and external experts in the work of an SC and EWC;
  • To develop strong, representative and robust EWC steering groups and teams;
  • To stimulate a proactive and team-based approach to enforcing information and consultation rights;
  • To improve communication lines at all levels (SC-EWC-national reps-management);
  • To understand management strategies and consider how to deal with them.
