Sigurt Vitols

Background

Sigurt’s main research interests include corporate governance, worker participation, sustainability, responsible investment practices, and the impact of alternative investment funds on companies. Currently he is working on developing an alternative to the shareholder value model of corporate governance, which is entitled “The Sustainable Company.” He received an M.A. and Ph.D. in economic sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. from Haverford College. He has teaching experience at the Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and the New York University Semester Abroad Program. Sigurt Vitols is currently Head of the Project Group ‘Modes of Economic Governance’ at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB) and continues to work for the ETUI.
