Bethany has an MA in International Relations from Leiden University, the Netherlands. Her studies focused on the critical analysis of language and discourses in economic crisis, with a particular focus on Europe’s post-2010 sovereign debt crises. She received her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Newcastle University, the UK. Bethany worked for a year as a trainee volunteer advisor at the Citizens Advice Bureau, a free public advice centre in the UK, where she dealt primarily with welfare, debt and employment issues. She also completed an internship at a human rights and development organisation in Liverpool as a special events organiser. In December 2019, Bethany got promoted to the position of deputy editor of HesaMag.
