The previous, neo-liberal growth and development model was revealed by the crisis to be unsustainable, in economic, social and environmental terms. It failed to deliver the vast majority of the world's citizens the material basis for leading a good life on a consistent basis. Remedying these problems requires across-the-board institutional and policy changes.
More fundamentally it requires a re-think of the entire model. In partnership with other organisations (TUAC, ITUC, GURN) and academics the ETUI has sought to take up the challenge of developing progressive alternatives to the dominant paradigm – now seeking to re-establish itself, the crisis notwithstanding – by way of collective publications and related activities.
