Climate change is causing people to leave their homes and move to other areas in their country. Sometimes climate change triggers displacements across borders.
According to data provided by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Center (IDMC) and cited by Euronews, “climate events causing displacement in Europe have more than doubled in the last four years, from 43 in 2016 to 100 in 2019”.
More precisely, almost 700 000 Europeans have been displaced from 2008 to 2019 due to wildfires, storms, or floods. One hundred forty-one thousand seven hundred eighty-seven originated from Russia, 65 360 from Spain, 55 938 from Germany, and 47 397 from France.
This webinar will debate the displacements induced by climate change and climate change policies.
