Several recent reports confirm that racism, is a persistent problem across every area of society, and achieving diversity at work, is a challenge for all sectors, non-less so in the white-dominated European Trade Union Movement. The recent unprecedented attack on the head office of the Italian confederation CGIL by the fascists encouraged the European trade unionists to react on the issue and will urge them to build responses to the rise of far-right at different levels (from national to company level).

Aims:

  • To identify common trade union challenges of right-wing populism/extremism in Europe and possible solutions to fight against it.
  • To exchange trade union policies and practices to combat the far-right.
  • To discover the ETUC roadmap: Building the Trade Union response to the rise of the far-right and ways trade unions could contribute to it
  • To develop ideas to support trade union trainers networking on the topic.

Working languages:  English, French, Italian
